RNC for $175. I can't think of anything under $1k I would use instead.

I second the RNC. You can get two of em in one rack space racked for you for about $475(I'm not quite sure about that price. Its basically the price of two of 'em plus $30 for a cool looking rack mod.) The company that does that is Mercenary Audio, and they're on the web.

for mix bus?

I have an RNC and just last night decided to run a mix through it. It didn't really do it for me. I like it for tracking things ok. Just my opinion, ymmv.
