Sound is like a cake, very hard to remove the eggs once it's baked.
If the sound you want to Isolate (voices) is at lower volume compared to the noises that share the same frequencies, it won't work..
I've done it countless times, people are looking to retrieving whispering of a possible cheating wife or husband or have a proof of what collegues say behind their backs.
If your ears can't comprehend the words, I haven't found any software being able to do this kind of miracles.
But If you hear the voices fine but some low noise bother you, this is another story. Izotope RX software is very good at this. Also Waves NS1 ! ;)

Hi Sal,
There's no simple formula to do this type of thing. It's much easier to remove constant noise like mains hum than noise that comes and goes and is in the same frequency range as the speech you want to preserve.
What you could try is one of the internet-based speech-to-text converters, such as the Google one. These work on more than just the sounds, as they actually try to fit a sequence of words to the jumbled noise that they hear. If this can make any sense of your recording, then you have a solution to your problem.
You may be able to get a rough idea of whether it's going to work by holding the Dictaphone loudspeaker up to the computer's microphone, but it would be much better to transfer the Dictaphone recording to a file on the PC and play that. It's possible we may be able to help you further for that bit of the process.
When using the Google tool, be sure to set the language as English (Great Britain), at least while we still have a Great Britain.
