This is what I want to do. I want to send tracks from the digital out of my roland 16-track to a laptop. I know nothing about this so I'm wondering what sort of connections I need in order to send it over either a S/PDIF or an optical out and have the computer turn that into a wav file or what ever is necessary when using a program like Pro Tools. Do I need a certain kind of soundcard to send dgital inomation or is that just for converting analog? Also how would I send it back out of the computer as a digital stream back to the 16-track? Any help would be greatly appreciated. The computer also has a usb port if that matters. Thanks!

VS1680 and Adobe Audition

In your case, you would need an interface (PCMCIA or USEB/FW) to convert Optical or PCM S/PDIF to what you end up with on the laptop.

Then it is a similar question to mine: How do I pull these separate "channels" into Adobe Audition for finish arrangement with my movie?

I just purchased by components and I am putting it together right now.

Answer to the Audition question??

I use a presonus FirePod to get the RCA channel output into my Audition. I use the vs1680 as a backup to my live audition recordings.

I am having a problem with a track (#3). I have recording on tracks 1, 2, and 3. Upon playback, I can press the status button for each track and enable (to green) each track except #3. The graphic display indicates that there is audio on tracks 1, 2, and 3. It is as if the button dies not work. But for any new song or even when I press the "M-Ply" button, all of the buttons in the "Status" section goe green. Still can't get the audio for #3 to play.

Can find info on the docs either.

Help please... Cheers,
