When I try to add compression and limiting like normal (not much), the BD starts to sound complete bunghole, like if it was overcompressed. If I add a hipassfilter at 30hZ, or use a mbc on the low-lows this doesn't occur. I used a shelving eq-boost on the kicks lows at the mixingstage. Why does this happen, and what is the best way to fight it?

EDIT: Oops, my intention was to post this in the mastering forum! Can it be moved?

If you don't have full range monitors, you're not going to hear 30hz even if there is a lot. You probably have a lot of sub down there that is kicking the compressor, even if you can't hear it. I would fitler out 30hz, maybe just shelve it down. This is tricky because now you in the land of tweeking what you can't hear. So a spectrum analyzer might be a good ticket for you so you can at least see what is going on down there.
