I just bought a new MIDI controller(88 keys, no onboard sounds) I want to use it for EVERYTHING...VSTi's, outboard modules etc.
I also have a EMU Proteus keyboard, and an ASR-X sampler(has 13 pads)

I want to be able to change presets in the EMU and ASR-X via the new midi controller(and play the devices as well with the contoller) However, each time i tried, i get terrible feedback from these two devices...What is wrong? How should I hook it up?

also, I've been able to change presets in several of my VSTi's throught the controller, except the MODEL E..what's up with that?

Do I need to set the "local control" off on the ASR and EMU?

I also have a Midi Cyclone midi effect hooked up and it keeps recieving messages that i don't want it too. How can I stop it? I want to set it manually.

I know this is the computing section...hey, midi's for computing!

Thanks

Well..since there is no official "MIDI" section this will have to do!! Besides...how can I ever turn you down Munkee!!! Who's held your hand the longest!!! lol
Ok..first.
Your controller..will control all your devices indeed..you need to map it out so to speak in Cubase...when you arm a MIDI track in Cubase you tell it what port it's coming in and what port it's going out. At that point yes..you should trun Local control off..You dont need the synth playing while Cubase tells it to play at the same time..
Model E may need to have certain messages on certain channels or something of that nature..It's like the Pro5..for me to control it with my JP8000 I need to remap all the buttons and sliders on it to match the Pro5..
The MIDI cyclone..got me on that one..has to be something being sent to it via Cubase..
What MIDI device do you have? Does each device have it's own port? If not then you are probably daisy chaining and at that point I need the configuration of devices to determine the true culprit. let me know on those points

What do you suggest? These are my controllers

Fatar Midi controller keyboard
Yamaha DTX Drum kit
Ensoniq ASR-X sampler w/pads

I want to be able to play the pads on the ASR-X or the DTX and record into Cubase. However, every once in a while these devices will pick up the sounds on other modules. I changed the midi channels, but somehow it will still trigger the sound, even when I arm the correct track in cubase..what the heck is going on???? I don't know if there are other midi commands that need to be abled or disabled to do this????

As some of you know I have the Tascam 428 with 2 midi IN/outs. Currently the DTX uses the #2 in/out of the Tascam. I Merge the Fatar with the ASR-X to Midi In/out 1 of the 428.

Thanks again for the help!!!!
