You can always disable the built in audio card and/or video card under device manager (Windows).

Actually the best place to deactivate them is in the Bios. That way they don't reserve IRQs

FYI: Technically, most modern boards do not use a BIOS. They use an EFI instead. The end result for the user is the more or less the same, but that information might help you when reading the manual :-)

Regarding the question, Dr. Willie is right. Don't bother finding a board without audio and video. Just disable it, or don't bother or just leave it. It probably won't do any harm.

Oynaz: I've been a IT technician for more than 20years, disabling a peripheral will make a difference in the usage of IRQ and other ressources (like memory for an onboard video card). So it's better to deactivate them. As for EFI chips, yes they started to replace bios chips, but when you boot up they are still called bios by some makers. Also I bet the industry will still refere to EFI chips as bios for years ahead. Thanks for the precision anyway Please don't get caught up on words from an old french Canadian guy :LOL:

You are right, of course. Disabling unused hardware will free up resources, but the resources freed (sp?) will rarely be a bottleneck, and you might find a use for them. An extra sound card, especially, can come in handy.

Regarding EFI vs. BIOS: A collegue just spend an hour poring a manual looking for the BIOS settings before he remembered that he needed to look up EFI instead :)
