Im looking at upgrading my computer to a G5 and I was wondering which one would get the job done. Should i go with a 1.8ghz or like a 2.5ghz? Right now I'm just using my mbox to record a few ideas for my band but i would like to have a home studio and eventually start a business out of it. I just want someone to point me in the right direction so i dont have to spend more money later upgrading my computer.

I wouldn't even bother with a G5 support will be ending soon, my guess is in the next couple of years.

No PPC support in the current Adobe products, to use certain advanced features of the Final Cut suite requires Intel Xeon, or third party capture card for PPC machines.

Then there is the cpu horsepower issues, currently even the mini is more powerful than the last dual G5's released.

The quad G5's still have a little life in them, but the quad MacIntels smoke them. Look for a used quad MacIntel.
