I just bought a Drawmer 1960 pre/comp, and I have a few questions about how I should hook it up.

I want to run a couple of Neumann TLM 170s through it to record Vocals and/or acoustic Guitar.

I have a Soundtracks Topaz 24 channel desk and I'm running into a MOTU interface and with 24 bit analog inputs.

First of all, I'm wondering if I should run the mics straight into the 1960 and then to the directly to the interface, thereby taking advantage of the superior preamps of the 1960, bypassing any extra circuitry.

Or should I run the mics straight into the 1960, then to the board so I can EQ before recording, which I'd like to be able to do, and if so, should I go from the output of the 1960 to the Line IN (balanced1/4") or the Mic In (XLR) on the mixer?

Or should I just use the channel inserts from the mixer to access the 1960?
