this is what I'm using now, just wondering if anyone had any feedback on where I should go or upgrades in gear I should look at.
Gear:
Dell inspiron 1501
2 GB RAM
dual core processor
Toneport ux2
At 2020 mic package
oqygen 8 keyboard
m-audio 75 watt monitors
Software:
Sonar 6 PE
Sound forge
reason 3.0

If you are able to use all of that and get done what you want/need to get done, then it's a great set up.
I don't know what you record or how you record so I don't know what you would need.
If you were me, you would be thinking about getting a more realistic drum sound. You would also want to be able to have access to and create lots of different rhythms. You would be looking at various drum based VSTi/sample libraries.
You would also be looking into some good quality VST effects.
Your long term desires would be to have a good multichannel interface into the computer so that you could record a whole band at one time...if you were me.
