How many channels? How much is "too much"? What's the bit about "no feedback"?

Have you considered the Zoom H4N? It's a 4-channel unit with two built-in mics and sockets for two external mics. It connects directly to a computer via USB to replay recordings or to use as a recording interface.

You can check some USB pocketrak from Yamaha if you are just looking for 2 track recording. This can be connected
also to computer fo later editing, Actually there's a lot you can choose!
