Most DATs deafult to 48K...you say the manual says it is capable of recording at 44.1, and I am assuming that you set it do so...?

Also, you probably need to set up your 1010 to send at 44.1...you did that also?

If both ends are set to 44.1, everything should work correctly. If it doesn't, I'm not sure what else to suggest.

Another thing is the DAT manual says it will only record digitally with copy prohibition mode.

SCUM...Sony Copy something something...never can remember what it stands for...it's a digital encryption which prohibits digital copying...there are ways to turn it off just have to dig around and find it..usually some sites have those instructions on them..do a search with Google and I'm sure you'll find someone who has found a way to defeat that.
Remember this..one unit must be the master clock..and that will be your source..in this case it's your Delta..set that to internal and set the DAT to external digital clock...once set to external it will see the incoming clock and should automatically switch to 44.1
Some machines have a switch in front(like Tascam) that allow you to say what sample rate it's set at.
Just remember to set the Delta to internal clock and the DAT to external and you are ready to go

SCMS - Serial Copy Management System. The RIAA successfully lobbied manufacturers some years ago, so that any DAT deck that RETAILS for under $1000 is required to incorporate SCMS. If you're trying to record to a machine that has SCMS, your software (You didn't mention what you're using) must be capable of turning the SCMS bit ON, or the DAT won't let you record at 44.1. Then, another "Under $1000" DAT machine won't be able to make a digital copy of the digital copy. This was done to keep people from selling/giving away "perfect" recordings of their CD's - like anybody would carry a DAT machine and a bunch of cassettes around with them just to listen to...

So, check each menu or the help file for SCMS, and see if your software lets you turn it on. If not, sorry... Steve

The scms adjustements are done with the control panel of my Delta 1010 soundcard which launches from within cubase,but no configuration would allow it to record at 44.1Khz.
I could get it to record at 48khz with copy prohibit on or off.
The Delta control panel has a consumer and pro section.The consumer part has 3 scms modes 1. copy permitted 2. 1st generation 3.No scms.With also a choice of 'No Emphasis' or 50/15uSec'.
The pro section has a choice of 'Audio' or 'Data' type and an Emphasis choice of 'None' ,'CCITT' or '50/15uSec
To allow it to record at 48Khz the consumer section was set to '1st Generation' and by toggling between 'No Emphasis' and '50/15uSec' it switched the copy prohibit on the Dat to on and off?
Today i recorded to a HHB CDR and it would only respond when i toggled to the Pro settings and this would record at 44.1Khz.
