Okay, I have been given the go ahead by my wife to get a cheap mic for podcasting and some simple voice recording. I have a layla 3g sound card, and I am looking at getting a Shure SM58 (not amazing, but just in the price range, $100).

I don't know what cable I would need to use the mic on the layla, any ideas?

Also eventually I want to get a Shure KSM44/SL, but I need to get a stand for the SM58 mic now. What is a good stand that I will be able to use both on (SM58 now, and KSM44/SL later).

Also I have seen a type of screen to cover the mic (I think it's to keep the sound from peaking on consonants), do I need this type of thing, what is it called, and what would a good one be.
