I can't think of any monitors for that price. You might be able to buy one(1) of the budget models. There are lot's of entry level monitors out there. None of them are all that good. Maybe look into Fostex PM-04.

Well, if you are using a proper audio interface, chances are it has either 1/4" phono plugs or xlr outs. If you just plan on using your internal sound card or a soundbasher, just go ahead and buy anything within your budget. Don't worry about having others justify your purchase if you have something in mind already. From my experience there is likely nothing anyone can say or do to convince a person to buy anything other than what you have planned already. Avoiding fudging cables into something that will work. If you're going to use your computer's sound card find the best set of computer speakers you can find at your price range. Is there a difference between computer speakers? Maybe. At that price point, they're probably all relatively the same.

As you may have guessed i am a beginner to all this. I guess the simpler way to put this is this: I have shitty cheap speakers from Wal-MArt(The hp $20.00 multimedia speakers) I obviously dont have the money for a decent monitor. So until i get a part time job and earn some extra cash i cant get the decent monitors. So right now i have a 100 bucks.

These hp speakers are so shitty. The bass is just awful. So i want to just upgrade.

SO Would it be ok just to get a nice PC speaker set with a subwoofer until i have the cash for a real Monitor?

As I said, don't look for justification for what you already plan to do. You will need monitorS. Unless you prefer to work in mono. I have to wonder how you could afford Reason which retails for $300 on sale. If all you can afford is computer speakers, go for it. You have to start somewhere. Eventually you will want to buy a proper audio interface and monitors. Just keep it in mind for the future.

If you are going to go for computer speakers, I'd check out thrift stores, flea markets, Craigslist, and garage sales and expand the search to include home stereo speakers. There are also reasonably good headphones in your price range. None of these options will give you as a truly accurate picture of your music. Your goal is to spend as little as possible on these stopgap measures. Their main function is to put off the time till you can buy serious equipment. Spend as little money on "disposable" equipment as possible.
