Do you want "Special Effects" or EQ?
If you want "special effects" and are on a budget, look at the DigiTech units. They make something for the vocalist.
It has to be good because I've seen it in all the catalogs!
Seriously, don't expect everything from something, because no matter what the manufacturer tells you, it's going to be a let-down for you. Especially the "budget gear".
Do you have a good mic? If not at least a Shure SM58, then nothing is going to be helping you. Then I'd get a box for that. DBX makes the ProVocal, which is a digital box that provides most, if not all, of what you
listed. Not too bad a unit, and it's cheaper than the TC Helicon stuff. And probably better than the DigiTech box...

thanx a lot, i don't have a mic yet but was thinkin' about getting an sm58. i've already seen the digitech units, what worries me about those is that the sound might be a little unrealistic and too digital as it is in digitech's guitar processors. So,i hope someone who tried the vocal stuff will send me a reply too...
The "TC Helicon"s are perfect ,unfortunately they seem to be everything but affordable.

well, i searched for the crosley system but couldn't find anything but info about the album..if there are any sites where i can learn about the system(even if it's expensive) please let me know...
does noone have any idea about the digitech vocal300 or vocal400?actually what i need is more than an idea, someone who tried them or knows someone who tried them...

First off, there are 2 "S"s in "Crossley"! The clowns on this forum can't even spell! Secondly, while I personally don't know anyone who has used a DigiTech voice processor, I DO know someone who has spoken to a guy in Calgary who has a cousin whose ex-brother-in-law has a friend in Dublin who tried one...once. He said it was OK, but it was no Crossley!

I've used a digitech box (I'm not the Calgary guy's cousin's ex-brother-in-law's friend in Dublin who tried one) . . . the quad 4 i believe. It was a good box for the money. It's good to start with because it has a lot of presets and is tweekable. It won't touch the higher-end stuff, but I would consider it a viable option if you can't afford the TC or Lexicon stuff. The Lexicon MPX1 is also something to look at if you can swing it. Good Luck.

I second the suggestion of the Lexicon MPX1. But my experience is a good mic (sure58) + a good preamp (brick? take your pick) = awesome vocals...
