Does anyone have any experience with this? I read that this interface can also be used as a stand alone mixer. It has a lot of channels in the back... I have six drum mics that I would want to use... do I need a separate mixer or can I hook the mics in directly? Stereo to XLR cables possibly? Help!

From a quick look at the specs: you can plug two mics directly into the front panel XLR inputs. You would then need some external mic pre-amps for your other 4 mics. You could buy a small mixer and use its preamps... but your mixing will happen in software after you get each mic recorded on its own track, so its actually just the preamps that you need.
