Hello,

First things first. I have looked for a similar topic, but didn't see any at first glance, but if there is one, let me know.

I recently recorded a 3 piece band. Drums, Guitar, Bass. Everything sounds awesome, i have it all mixed. This is being submitted to a contest, tomorrow, and I wanted to "Master" / "Ghetto Master" it. Basically I just want to make it as good as i possibly can, to increase the quality for the content. I dont know if there are some "half-assed" programs, etc.

I know that people use wave lab (?). I believe thats what its called. I know there are also some plugins in pro tools. I have also heard some people say, "run the entire mix through an UA 2-1176. I am new to the whole engineering thing, but i have some basic knowledge. Let me know your thoughts. Anything helps.

Thanks,
Jason

BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING ELSE..........Read the sticky at the top of this forum.

Then use the search function to look up what you want to know.

If you don't know what program you are going to use and how to use it why bother with any mastering? You are just going to f**k it up worse than it is anyway. It would be, IMHO, better to just send off the mixed version if you don't know what you are doing.

There has to be 1000 similar questions on this website. Do some research and then if you have some legit questions come back and someone I am sure will be happy to answer them.
