I just bought a firepod and I already have an sm57, 58 and a few other random mics for recording. I'm looking into getting a cheap (100-200) condenser mic to add to my setup. For what I'm recording now I dont need a fancy setup, just recording guitars, vocals and cello. Does anyone have any suggestions for descent mics in this range? When it comes to this I really have no clue what constitutes a good mic or what would be better suited for me. This one seems to be popular on music friend.

The Red ribbon would be a good choice, some of the Studio Projects may be usable, the ADKs might work. You should work with a local dealer to get some, or a mail supplier that will let you return one if you do not like it.

You listen some instruments that are hard to capture naturally with good mics. So it will be a trial and error thing.
