The singer in my band is a little hard to record.He has kind of a high voice (Robert Plant/Bon Scott,etc.)All my mics hate his voice (NTK,a couple of AT's,MXL's,etc.).They're all pretty bright,and they seem to over accentuate the treble content of his voice.
He was discussing this with someone he knows,and they recommended one of those Nady ribbon mics.I would be hesitant to buy any Nady mics (I've got a couple of SCM900's that I got when I first started recording.Yuck.Although,believe it or not,they sound alright on rock snare.)But I've actually heard good things about these Nady ribbons.The only way so far we can get a good vocal sound on tape is with a 58 (which is fine with me,btw)And I've been thinking a ribbon may be the ticket.
So what do You think?Anyone have any experience with them?I know Nady isn't exactly know for quality,but for the price,if they sound good,maybe?

We actually have tried omni,helped a lot,but still not quite there.The 58 sounds better.Like I said,I have no particular aversion to using the 58,but we are trying to maximize our possibilities,and he's on a tight budget.

The Nady mics are actually workable and decent. They're the same mic as the Pacific Pro Audio R-One. They can choke a little on some low freqs when tracking AC guitar but handle voice pretty well with that "vintagey" ribbon color. You can also mod the grill by removing the outer 2 layers and the pop filter foam inside to allow more upper mids and high's through. They're a good deal.
Check out shinybox.com though because those guys are selling modded versions of those mics and putting in higher quality txformers like Lundhal's and Cinemag (listen to the soundclips on the site). You pay a little more but they sound great.
Also, try a mic with an omni pattern. Sometimes a vocalist with a freq range like you're describing sounds fantastic with an omni capsule (pattern).
