Had an opportunity to use a Summitt 2BA-221 pre the other day on some bass tracks. Impressed. Easy set up and the performance was out of sight. Not a 'new' toy by any means, I think they've been around for a while, but new to my usage.

The set was this. Bass= G&L 2000 on the neck pickup into the DI on the Summitt. Actually used the +10 output into the HD24 as a converter into PT9 through the optical ins. so analog up to the HD24 and digital the rest of the way. The knobs were brought up till the level was good and that was that.

It was a blues demo so the bass played an active part in the music with lots of quick movements on the shuffles and the rumbas and well as the blues funk stuff.

The Summitt was quick and accurate. Full bodied and you could get a bit more grit with the tube control but it never got too grainy or muddy. It always kept its rather Hi-Fi sound and fidelity.

Theres a new one slated for my rack. Maybe two as I'm interested in hearing this with my mic collection. Its a single half-rack and built like a tank.

Any others with experience with this unit?
