I'm recording guitar tracks into Sonar 8 with a Line 6 UX1 interface. I'm using the podfarm software and it sounds fine until I hit record and I get terrible sound. Does anyone know what might be causing this?

How many hard drives do you have? And I hope whatever you do have is 7200 RPMs. VSTi's require lots of resources. It sounds to me like you are running your computer and recording your audio to the same hard drive. This is taboo for audio/video recording/editing. You can not read and write to the same hard drive simultaneously. Get a second esata or firewire hard drive for the destination audio drive. Also, you may need to keep pushing the latency buffer up. Set it at least at 1024 samples.
