So, are you guys all busy playing around with the Ardour public beta? If you're not...

I'd like to try things out myself, but I suppose I'll have to wait until the Aardvark cards are ALSA-supported...

Hmmmm ... no reply. Isn't anyone interested enough in this to check it out? Personally, I still don't feel confident enough to even attempt to tackle it, but I know that there are some here who could. I'd really like to know what a person with extensive Linux knowledge has to say about it (in it's current state).

This is obviously the biggest step yet taken in Linux audio production. If members of a site like RO don't even have enough interest in it to try it, then that in itself states that "the recording community" is going to be very slow in being receptive. I'm a bit surprised that there aren't more people interested in an open source (read "FREE") recording application that runs on an open source OS. Perhaps the learning curve just isn't worth the cost savings to most people at this point (?).

Perhaps once it is an official release and there are people using it and discussing it, there may be more interest. I definately will be using Ardour in the future, but for the time being, with my limited knowledge of Linux (in general), I know I would be in over my head.
