I'm going to be starting to burn CD's in a while, what's the preference for brand and stat's that are best to purchase?

Also if burning for duplication burn them at 1x only to prevent too many error's

Is this what you are hearing these days or is this a conclusion based on your personal experience? I'm not being argumentative, but just interested. The reason being, that for a number of years there seemed to be a consensus among everyone i asked that 2x was the ideal burning rate for minimizing errors. Lately, though, it seems that many hardware and software manufacturuers are saying burning at the highest rated speed (for both the hardware and the media) will give the best results.

Since 95% of the stuff done at my studio gets sent to a mastering facility before it goes to duplication, I don't have a lot of personal experience here. If it means anything though, what things have gone direct to a duplication plant have never been sent back because of errors, and I've always burned at least at 2x speed.

On the other hand, i completely concur that the glass masters made for duplication should definitely be done at 1x speed - and this always has to be specifically requested by the client, as it usually entails an extra fee.

BTW, re: "I mix for humans... not dogs" - I resemble that remark!
