Plz any one tell me, is it possible to mix the track with the midi keyboard (novation impulse 61) which has 9 faders and few knobs to control DAW.
And mastering too after that?

A MIDI keyboard does not pass audio, it only generates MIDI messages. If you have digital audio workstation (DAW) software of the right type on your computer, it may be possible to use MIDI messages to control it for mixing. In that way you could perform audio mixing using the DAW to mix but the keyboard to control the DAW.

Ohh yess I forgot to tell that I have cubase 5 and I don'thave mixer separately, what I have is midikeyboard which has faders and knob...

Depends on your idea of what Mastering is. From a professional point of view, no professional (real) M.E. I know uses a midi keyboard controller to control the many and various functions and workflow processes that are involved in the mastering process.

If you're talking about just making things as loud as possible - which isn't really mastering at all... then yeah, probably. I'm sure you could probably assign a fader or knob somewhere on a midi controller to simply turn things up in volume... but again, that's not mastering.

Why don't we start with what your idea of "mastering " is ?... At the very least we can correct any misconceptions you have about the craft.

Boss... thats pretty good information... but my point of view about mastering is not making music loud.
I knw so many steps are there to follow.. like mixing is working on individual track and mastering is working on all tracks/channel all together. But what working is yeah thats very important... all process and efects according to the need...
this much I know...
but I do all these things on cubase... because I dont have any equipment or hardware... like mixer and all...
I record using midi and audio interface.
and mix with the same... novation impulse 61 comes with great automap software...
which helps in using DAW efficiently and easily.
now suggest/help me regarding my question.

You can mix, master or what ever you want to do with your DAW. A controler is a controler.
The real question is, it going to be efficient for you, will you like how it works? Only you can answer those questions.
I chose the Mackie MCU because it looks and feel like a mixer and the faders were motorised.
A controler won't change anything to the sound you can get with your DAW. It only helps you work faster.
