Till now I have been recording on to my PC to a Delta 66 card with an Omni Studio mixer etc. Its OK but now I have bought a Revox C274 four track
(for what I do four is enough) to which I input the mics via a home brew mixer. Then I want to mix down to stereo on to the PC via the Omni Studio. Question--
What should I use and where should I connect EQ and comp/limiting. Should I go for an all in one
programme like T-racks or should I use outboard units ( I am building a 2ch Pultec). I realize this does not have a one sentence answer!

You are most likely going to want to eq and comp to tape to keep
You are most likely going to want to eq and comp to tape to keep the tape surface noise down. Adding compression and boosting hi freqs off the tape only brings the surface noise up. That machine has a signal to noise ratio of something like 66dB, which is a bit low but workable. In the old days, a lot of folks would boost the high frequencies @ 10k a few dB and then cut them a reciprocal amount in playback to help bring down surface noise.
