I have recently picked up a pair of Yamaha NS-10Ts. I got a great deal on them, compared to NS-10Ms or NS-10S’ anyways, and am looking for a bit more information on them. Searching through the forum, I found a post from someone in a similar situation and they were told that the NS-10T is the home audio version of the NS-10. The commentary on that thread suggested that they were close enough to the other NS-10s in sound characteristic to be worth while, so I went ahead and got them.
I don’t have any other NS-10s, nor have I spent any real time with them to have an idea what they should sound like, so I’m trying to get a grasp on that. Paired with a Hafler TransNova 1500 power amp, these speakers don’t sound “great”, but I understand they’re not supposed to. The badging and nameplates suggest vertical mounting. They came with cloth grilles as well. They’re covered with a faux woodgrain and the drivers have normal looking black cones.
Does anyone have any information on this model? After reading articles at ns-10.net and sound on sound, I’m left wondering about the following:
-Are the tweeter and crossover the same between these and any other NS-10?
-Are the tweeters in these the ones typical of the older models that required attenuation, or should they be the newer style that aren’t as hyped?
-The drivers do not appear to be the same. The SoS article describes the regular NS-10 cone as being glued from a flat piece, but these drivers have no seam and are obviously not the infamous white color. Are these anything like the normal white speakers?

I can tell you this. They were not designed for white toilet paper. And you don't want to use the proper colored toilet paper.
George Massenburg & others use to use JBL "L100" consumer loudspeakers instead of their professional series 4310/4311's. They were identical in every way except for the beautiful natural veneered woodgrain boxes & beautiful blue or orange foam grills. Yamaha has a good reputation so go for it. But then there was a difference between their Grand pianos e.g. C-3 versus G-3, C-7 versus G-7. The Conservatory Grands were built to take more abuse. So don't be throwing those speakers around a whole lot. Or is that hole lot? Just don't throw them. Make love to them instead, without the toilet paper. I don't care what Bob Clearmountain says, about toilet paper.
I don't do Yamaha speakers. I do have a C-3.
