WOW! I have to say something here.

DPA has to be one of the finest microphone companies in the world. I am so impressed with everything I have from them. Their stuff is pricey but you know what, their workmanship shows why.

I've always wanted a nice stereo bar so why not eh. Well hold me back... After a long wait from the time I ordered these to commercial production, I just received the SBS0400 Stereo Boom w. Shock Mounts and wow, this is designed like high end precession archery.

The GM1500 piano goose necks are to die for. I'm looking at these and thinking, nice but how could they hold onto anything without falling over or off. Well did I say magnets! They have very strong magnet mounts coated in a smooth grip-like rubber that will attach to steel like I would never expect. The goose-necks and shock-mounts screw onto these magnets mounts so precisely, wow, so well made and clever.
Not only are they great for sticking to the piano but I'm thinking much more. As an example. I have broadcast booms that I use for singing while tracking guitar. Stick-em on the boom at the right spot, no stand in the way. This could be perfect.

I love this company, thank you DPA, this was worth the wait! thumb

Here's the technical info on the mounts:

Using pressure gradient (directional) microphones calls for more attention to suppressing vibrations from the microphone.
The SM1500 is a modular double pole construction on an adjustable mic stand base. Both omnidirectional and directional microphones – compact as well as larger – fit this line.
Based on the Rycote® Lyre™ suspension system almost any microphone can be used simply by adding another Lyre™ rubber piece. The more light weighted the microphone the softer the rubber should be.
The SM1500 shock mount design is extremely flexible, the holders can be mounted facing both upside and downside and the poles can be adjusted by pushing them forth and back.

Cheers!

Very cool looking! What is the scale on those? (As in what size?) I'd love to see them with mics in. What is the price. So far my [[url=http://[/URL]="http://www.sabra-so…"]Sabra-Som[/]="http://www.sabra-so…"]Sabra-Som[/] has been a great bar - especially after buying some hex steel bars in various sizes to take care of different situations. But this looks very nice.

Its very light as well.

I'll take a picture of it the next time I mount it all.

From usable end to end it spreads 14 3/4"
The mounts are approx 3- 3/4" long, 1- 5/8" wide and weight almost nothing.

They are totally modular. Everything snaps between rails and can slide on a track with the perfect tension. The mounts can rotate with clear marking of 0, 45 and ORTF. They line up like rifle sites. They can also flip so you can see the sites (very smart).
Pivot adapters make it easy to add-on for more options.

The shock mounts themselves are like a flex nylon. They look like they could break if you kept them in sub zero and dropped them upon opening the case ( yes, it gets that cold in Canada!). The shocks are also replaceable in case that ever happened or they wear out etc.

Other than that, they look great and should last a long time assuming the nylon doesn't get brittle over time. They will definitely out last the standard rubber elastic type. I think they will do the job exceptionally well.

The DPA 4011' or 4006' are 6 3/4" x 3/4" diameter. Other mics in that dimension should work.

To my conversion calculations, The USD list is $657.00 which included the shock mounts.

SBS0400 stereo boom with shock mounted microphone holders

For those finding this thread on the web, I see their website is now updated with the specs. I've had this for a half year and love the set-up:

The lightweight SBS0400 stereo boom with shock mounted microphone holders addresses the need for quick, precise and repeatable ways to switch between AB, XY, ORTF, and DIN stereo principles.
The shock mounts included in the SBS0400 hold both omnidirectional and directional microphones – compact as well as larger. Based on the Rycote® Lyre™ suspension system almost any microphone can be used simply by adding another Lyre™ rubber piece.
Markers indicate parallel microphones positioning plus 90 and 110 degrees offset for XY an ORTF configurations. A central base with rotary joint allows the microphones to be angled equally. SB0400 has hooks for suspending the boom in wires.
The standard length is 40 cm (1.3 ft) but the boom can be further extended at your wish by adding modular carbon fiber poles. Also more holders can be attached to it for mounting of more than two microphones.
