I'm excited about -the extra processing power, think that the upgrade deal for the first 6 months, at any rate, is excellent and love the idea of midi time stamping. :)

I'm disappointed that Apogee are only allowed in via a legacy port. I want to connect direct. Maybe in time Digi will let them make an AMBus card. :(

I'm confused about the real benefits of high sample rates destined for 44.1 CD, and the info seems sketchy or non-existent, so far, around issues like auto delay compensation and instanciation on the fly OSX, and OMS. I won't be jumping for a while yet but look forward to the improvements when I do. :D

Hi Renie,

I'm not yet sure what Midi Time Stamping (MTS) is or how it works but few of us have been really happy with the PT/OMS MIDI timing. Bare in mind though that in the docs Digi states that the new Midi I/O supports the MTS feature which will be implimented in a future release of PT. I took this to mean that this isn't supported in PT 5.3 but in the next version.

Re: Higher sample rates for material destined for 44.1kS/s. I've been having a discussion about this with Nika both on the DUC and in private. He's currently running some tests as he's got the testing gear to do it. Once I've got some proofs one way or another I'll post it up here.

OMS hasn't changed but hopefully MTS will sort out the problems. Still no OSX support.

I have to say that I'm very impressed with what I've seen so far. The big surprise for me is that Digi have obviously only had time to work on the hardware as the only software changes I can see are just to allow the new hardware to work. My guess is that once the first mad rush is over for the new systems Digi will plough all it's efforts into PT 6.0. I could be way off here but I believe that we will see PT 6.0 in just a few months. If it weren't for the fact that NAMM is now I think Digi would have waited and released the new hardware and software together. This is just a guess though! :)
