If it is a situation where you really want the whole track to pump (I am really NOT a fan of this one but it works) you could send a sub mix of the kick and bass to the sidechain input of a compressor that is inserted into a sub mix of the tracks you want to "get out of the way" or "pump." Very mild compression ratios are usually more desirable using that technique.

If you want more low end in your kick drum for instance, run a 40 hz sine wave thrue a sidechain gate, triggered by your kick track. Voila... There it is.
