Never mind the math. I admit, I liked Frey in his solo work but not so much as a mouth piece for the Eagles. Do not know why but that is a reality. I immediately travelled back in time in my mind when I saw of his death to the 70's. Good times from what I can remember. Well, he lived a blessed life all the way up to the last minute, as an outsider looking in.

We should all be this fortunate.

His true talent was songwriting. And he was a true craftsman at it.

He knew that the "magic" was in the song., that this is where it all starts.

Unlike other past and current popular acts, who's success is/was largely founded on image, The Eagles were songwriters, singers and musicians first.

Whether you ( not saying you, Brien, saying "you" collectively) like The Eagles and their music or not, no one with any true appreciation for music can deny that they were good songwriters, good musicians and singers, and that their vocal harmonies were impeccable - and that they were able to appeal to such a wide range of listeners.

Even if we were to reduce the definition of their success to numbers alone, The Eagles Greatest Hits is still the second highest-selling album of all time ( 2nd to Thriller).

I'm also having a hard time thinking of any other popular band, at any time, that broke up acrimoniously, took an 18 year hiatus, and then immediately returned to playing sold-out shows as if their two decades away seemed like nothing more than them having taken only a few months off.
