Where the computer places the files programs vs programs x86 is irrelevant to functionality. In my main desktop I have it set up in the following manner:
Primary drive (C): operating system and ALL programs (always keep this drive a minimum of 30% available up to 15 gigs)

secondary drive: all virtual instrument libraries (this would include folley libraries)

third drive: [no larger than 500gb] active projects and destination for recording audio

fourth drive: general storage

multiple eSATA and removable drives (Glyph GT051): finished projects

Yes. A 500gb or smaller driver has fewer platters and as such is much much more stable on the spindle. Also, as you fill up those massive cheap TB and larger drivers they become exponetially slower as you reach capacity. Far better to keep audio on smaller drives and archive completed projects on larger drives like I stated.

As to libraries, you can just move them once they are installed. Also, if you were to add additional libraries like Garritan or Vienna or similar then you would also place these on the "library" drive.

Since i went with the 1tb caviar blacks for the project files and recording was that not a wise choice. It seems to be handling everything very well and im very surprised how quiet my new build is. I guess a lot of this, since its new to me is just seeing what works the right way. Im also using ezdrummer. Should i install all the files on the ssd os drive? I would like the kits to load as fast as they can because some of the kits load pretty slow.

Look. You do what you want. I told you what would be best.

Your TB+ drives will be great right off the bat. As you fill them up they become slower and slower. Also, the more platters you cram into a form factor the more unstable it becomes over time. There is no issue whatsoever using them as storage/archive as that isn't critical per se. When you are laying in tracks however you want the most streamlined slick as cat shit on a linoleum floor fast that you can get. Slick as snot on a glass door knob. Slick as LAWS on a 249SAW.

Any project that i do, As soon as it is finished i archive it to an external to keep it of my main drive. I dont see the point of keeping things on an actively used tracking drive if im finished with it. That should eliminate the problem of filling up the drive ergo slowing it down. It seems that the caviar 1tb are the choice for these drives. Im not really sure what you mean by a faster tracking drive? 10,000 RPM? 500gb? Whats the point if you archive anyway? They are noisy and pointless other than for bragging rights. Im not recording orchestras or 500+ tracks anyway. I appreciate your input but i dont appreciate condescension. Im able to track a band and get it sounding great and that is my main goal. Ill get it figured out.
