Hey Dedric, I made it!

so
I just got back from a tour to Alaska, hauling a PC w/ PARIS all the way, recording at coffehouses and jam sessions. I have the tour story up in the ARCHIVE section of my website now and there's some PARIS pictures there.

Though it is a year old, when I built the PARIS system I wrote up a report of what, why, where, and how much and it is in the ARCHIVE as well. I'll post an update soon, the the only real changes was I ditched the Ross mixer (too noisy and old) and got a Mackie mini-mixer that works great. I just added another 30GB HD but thats more because of video processing than audio needs.

as the site shows, I'm no pro studio tech, or a tech of any sort. I'm a low budget independent performer trying to do it on my own as a better route than paying for studio time and because I have no illusions of getting a record company contract to pay for it, and I wouldn't trust their faustian bargains anyway.

so, I'm here to help. And I'll admit that half the time I can't even understand the posts on the PARIS user group since they talk tech and gear way above my head. But PARIS is GREAT. Maybe there are people who can relate better to my level of ignorance! And I'll reiterate that PARIS is great for me, not just the top people like Brian T. Perhaps that is the cool thing, though he has the best gear and budget and talent to work with, and his own way greater talent and skill as an "sound engineer"(?); at the core, I can have the same quality DSP he uses for my recording. I like that, even if I had to buy my stuff used! And have only two microphones to my name!

Peace
Brian
