hello, i'm new. hope i'm doing this right...

i was just wondering if anyone knew of any budget preamps that can handle line level? i've searched and anything under 300 dollars can't take higher level input.

i'm trying to beef up the sound of my Korg es-1 sampler.

thanks!

[edit] i meant to say TUBE pre that accepts line level

It's a "rough as guts" solution, but if you are mainly interested in the sound of the preamp, you could always get you hands on a pad to drop the output ot the synth to mic level and then feed it into any of the mic pre's that you like the look (and price) of.

I know that this isn't the best practice by a long shot, but if you're on a budget then it will at least get you out of trouble.

What is needed is a couple of direct box's to get the Korg into the mic pres ...

as far as decent tube pres under 300 bucks , there really aren't any ... the closest thing is the VMP1 from Studio projects .. solid state with a stage of tube gain to thicken things up a bit ... not the best out there but useable ... (and it has a tube) .
