I know the new intel imacs are not currently compatibility as it states on digidesigns site. I am wondering if I should buy this new imac with the possiblility that it will be compatible shortly. I only do basic recording and mixing but I don't want to give it up. What do you all think? Will it be compatible someday? I have an older powermac g4 quicksilver that i would like to sell if i get the imac but may have to keep it if I can't use Pro Tools on the imac intel, bla bla bla.? thanks for the help.

Well before the first g5 imacs came out, a little over a year ago, digi also had it on their list of non compatable computers. So I called them, asked what the deal was and when they would be compatable. The guy actually gave me really straight forward answers and basically gave me the ok to buy it and load pro tools on it. Now I know this situation is different with the new hardware but maybe if you give digi a call they can give you a more realistic timeline than one month to one year.
