So far everything I have done has been warming up for the recording of my project and I have a few very specific questions:
I am going to record the kit alone (playing to headphones with scratch tracks and a click) so I have access to everything I own to get the best sound possible.
1. My best Pre is a RNP (two channel) Where on the kit would you suggest using it? My inclination is the Oktava 012 overheads.
2. Would any of my other mic pairs be better for overheads than the Oktava 012's I am currently using? (I have Beta 57's, Studio Project B1's, SM57's)
3. Any creative ideas where I can use my Joemeek channel? While I have not tried it, I thought I may throw an additional SM57 in the kick (already have an SM57 + Beta52 in the kick.)
As always, any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

my 2 cents... use your RNP on overheads since they (probably) comprise the majority of your drum sound.
Your Octava's may be your best o/h mic choice but I'd experiment with the B1's and others... kind of depends on your room size & ceiling height.
Next priority for me would be kick & snare, again experiment with different mic/pre combos to see what you like best. I'm often surprised by what comes out of the monitors from combos I didn't think would be great.
