In my home studio i would like to set up a "talk" feature but am not too sure how to go about this. Basically all I want is to be able to communicate with the people in my sound room at any given time without having to go over to the sound room to speak with them.
Any suggestions?

You could plan ahead and do it right by spending some money on a nice talkback controller like the SPL MTC 2381 or a little less pro like the [[url=http://[/URL]="http://www.presonus…"]PreSonus[/]="http://www.presonus…"]PreSonus[/] monitor station, or make something pretty simple. You could even try Link555, one of our DIY gurus that builds gear for the members occasionally.

2 radio shack Baby Phones ??
;-)

I tried to get soemthing decent together when I was ...younger... Well, in my early days, anyway...lol
M2c: it is possible, but a pain in the neck and not at all future proof. I have 2 Central Stations in my editing suites since 2004 and
they do all what you desire in good quality for a very reasonable price. The SPL ( I own the surround version) is also absolute pro stuff.
For a smaller budget I recommend this one:
[="http://www.thomann.de/gb/presonus_monitor_station.htm"]PRESONUS MONITOR STATION - Thomann UK Cyberstore[/]="http://www.thomann…"]PRESONUS MONITOR STATION - Thomann UK Cyberstore[/]
or at a lower level and not known to me:
