A friend just got a Variax 500, and I really like the idea, but I would really like to have a vibrato tailpiece. The 700 is a bit out of my price range, but I'm a bit wary of the maple fingerboard on the 600. All my other guitars have rosewood fingerboards. Is the feel of the 600 neck much different from the 500 or 700?

Why no rosewood? Why bother.

You may be intrigued by the Variax, but it will wear off, so don't worry . (y)

For what its worth, the mohagany/swamp ash 700 or mohagany/spruce acoustic versions work best with thier piezo/electronics to my ears.

But I still stick to my first opinion... why bother? Variax is for the most part -substandard sound, and outdated overhyped electronics.
