Yes, here's a few for ya. TDK, K-hypermedia, Memorex the forementioned Maxells (TDK & Maxells are my favorates). I've been using re-writables lately & for some time now since all of my CD recorders are CD-RW including my 03' Yukon (non-recordable that is), will play back CD-RW's.

I read a very interesting article in an australian audio mag about cdrs. The guts of it said that the production process between brands can be quite different. The amount of dye on the cd and the quality of the spraying of the dye can affect how much info, 1's and 0's , actually end up on the cd. they said its strange that folks would spend hundreds on two inch tape, $20 plus and 40min of adat, even $5 on blank tapes but only want to spend 50 cents on a cdr. For listening to rough mix downs, I use what ever is the cheapest. But for masters and multitrack data I choose mitsubishi or verbatim,(I like the vinyl record looking ones).

Everytime I go into our local GC(git-target) I always go into the 'antique' room and look at the prices.Ridiculous!!! Keeps me from buying anything there every time.It doesnt hurt that the staff is yer basic used car salesman who owns a guitar and thinks hes an expert.A perfect example is the 1956 ES335 they had for sale for $5K.
My point being is there are no 1956 ES335's.

I go with Taiyo Yuden sa well. I buy the fugi made in Japan packs. The fuji made in Korea packs are not Taiyo Yuden as far as I know.
There is a utility out there somewhere that tells you the real manufacturer who is not necessarily the brand name. Thats how I found out about the fugi/Japan thing.

I used to use the cheapest I could find at Frys 9usually about 5-7 dollars/50) and had quite a bit of problem having some that did not burn- they my wife gave me some maxells for Xmas and not one of them was bad, so I've been using them for about $15 for 50.
