When manually installing the us-428 why are the new 3.09 xp drivers (came in the zip file) not recognized as xp? It gives me the box that says the drivers are not tested and approved for xp...
I've used the installer but for some reason there is always an unsupported device listed and when I remove it and reboot it always recognizes the us-428 and wants to install the drivers... That's when the drivers are disputed by xp.
Am I missing some trick to getting the 428 installed correctly? I'm having all kinds of problems with popping and dropouts so any help would be greatly appreciated.
FYI the us428 and wdm drivers are listed and work, but I can't get rid of the unssuported device.
Thanks Alot! Chris

I'm not sure why you're manually installing instead of using the executable installer. Have you done a clean uninstall per the documentation? Have you run the installer with the 428 turned OFF? Also, the stuttering in XP is an XP issue...there's a fix you need to get. I don't have the link to it but you could do a search on the Tascam BBS and find a few threads referencing it...it's something you'll need to download from M'Soft.

My bad! The unsupported device is not the us-428, that's a separate issue. It's installed fine. That's excellent news about the file to fix the stuttering! Can you give me a hint on that filename? Or where to find it? And by bbs do you mean the forum on the tascam site or an actual phone line bbs? I'm on cable & don't have a modem...
Thanks

Off the top of my head I don't remember the name but it's a Windows XP file....it's named Q-something, like all Windows OS fixes. If you do a search on the Tascam BBS you should find reference to it...searchwords XP and stuttering, maybe. (I have no idea what you mean by a phone line BBS. I'm talking about the online forum at tascam.com, the one I used to moderate.)
