Our church is considering an upgrade to their drum set. We're currently using V-Drums; the Concert set, I believe.

Anyway, as hard as I'm trying to convince them to buy acoustic, I don't think it's gonna happen.

SOoooooooooooo... What's new in electronic drums? What brands should I research? What questions should I be asking?

I was kinda' hoping that some of you could help me out with my drums. I am using Cubase SX, battery and Antares Tube to beef it up, but I'm just not getting that smooth deep sound.

ok i have a 57 pointed toward the middle of the snare..simple basic mic placment...
is there any compressor settings or some secret technique or placment to kill some hat bleed?

Hi all- recently moved into a new place in Manhattan and I'm looking to start recording a demo on my own as the acoustics in here are great and my neighbors don't seem to mind so far (been playing electric guitar, singing, etc. fairly loud) but just to be sure that no one kicks my ass I want to be able to isolate the noise from my room and from my kit as much as possible.

I have just finished recording some drum takes one hour ago.
We were reasearching for a nice bright tone, testing several snares, mic placement and mic combinations.
For mic placement, I utilized one mic at the classic top position and the other one as a side snare mic, similar to Fletcher's technique.

I'm gonna get my son a drumset. He's left handed, and I wonder if I should set the kit up for left or right handed playing.

Are any of you left handers playing right hand kits?
If so, have you any regrets?

Greetings! I've spent a couple years working with drum kits, but I have a small hand drum made from a gourd that I'd like to include in a couple segues on my band's CD. I can make some guesses, but I figured I'd see if you guys had any advice. My available mics at this point are a pair of C1000s and SM58s and 57s...

I have been expirimenting with saare track recording, so far I have used a

AKG C-414 about 1" from the top side polar pattern facing at a 45 deg angle 20db pad, very thin sound and pingy ( this snare is not a very fat sounding snare in the first place ) we try'd different positions but not much help ?
