This is a popular question. I've been in some preliminary talks with a potential new client for a design and supervisory role on a new home studio build in my area.

The obvious question is how much, the reply, well. . It depends. So many variables exist in studio construction it's very different than any other type of construction in a home.

andre linked this paper, and I thought it would be good to have over here, just for general interest.

The discussion was based on 'house curve' where studios tend to have a response that has a boost in the lows and a dip in the highs.

I was looking at these ceiling clouds by Primacoustics...they measure 24 inches x 48 inches x 2 inches

Perfect for the area I want to cover above my mix position

Has anyone out there had any experience with or used / currently using this one?

What attracts met to this particular one is not only the size, but its lightweight construction and ease to fit.

I just moved into a house where I would really like to be able to mix. I have 7 24x24 acoustic foam tiles. I know ill need other treatments. See the picture for my room dimensions. I'm not sure what else I need, or where to place what. I would like to be able to record in the room as well… if that makes a difference. Thanks!

I am in the throes of building my one room studio. The shell is already built and I'm now working on the inside stuff.

I just closed my concert venue in West Columbia, SC, and I have a good many burlap-covered acoustic panels that I need to sell (both 2" and 1" thick, in 24" x 48" and 48" x 96" sizes). Can somebody recommend a good place where I could advertise these to engineers who work in recording studios, churches, or concert venues? (I'm trying ebay too, of course.)

So I've been trying to setup a studio in my new two story house. My upstairs is a large one room, loft like area that I want to use as my control room. There is a small door upstairs that leads to a uninsulated attic like storage space. In that space I drilled a doorknob sized hole in the floor. Directly below that hole is a closet to a bedroom downstairs.
