Can anyone recommend a very small monitor system (preferably without a sub) that I can use for low-level mixing in my condo? It is an apartment-style setup and if I bring my big (6") monitors home the whole building will get mad at me!

Lots of talk regarding ribbon mics these past few weeks, I thought I'd post an audio example of the sound of a ribbon on my voice.
I chose to write a track that would be reminscent of when these mics were used in their heyday - kind of a jazzy/pop standard thing.
For this track, I borrowed an RCA 44BX for the vocals on this one.
Preamp was a Grace Model 101.
Hi,
Just wondering if anyone knows a way to guesstimate -with any degree of accuracy- the modal response of a room that takes the shape of an "L"
I remember reading (maybe in Everest's 'Handbook'?) something about sectioning off rectangles/squares but what then? Is it possible to predict these modes at all? (as a whole)
I've been working on a PC,and Pro Tools LE since 5.1, and now 10, Live tracking bands, using a 003 with a Ramsa DA7 digital mixer.
Okay, here it goes...
Please, any objective criticism you have to offer would be MUCH appreciated!

Hey everbody,
I recently bought a Fast Track Pro USB audio interface thinking that I would be able to get something cool from it by directly plugin my bass, then use Guitar Rig 5 to simulate an amp. It works, but the thing is that sounds like crap ! Am I doin something wrong ? Is there anything that is missing to my setup ? Im runnin on a brand new Macbook Pro with Ableton Live 8.
Hi .. I'm an old broadcast / production guy who retired from radio shortly after everything went digital. I'm pretty proficient with all the older analog recording stuff (you know, the reel-to-reel 8 track recorders, vinyl, carts, etc) but some of this new digital technology has got me stumped.
Hello,
Hi all!
I want to post links to some mixes here so you guys can tear them apart and give me some objective criticism on production/engineering. I'd just like to know what the best format/hosting site (hopefully free!) is to use. They all probably use some sort of lossy codec(?) but what is the preferred method that everyone can live with?
Not sure exactly what the correct term is, which is probably why I can't find an answer online, but does anyone know how to trim an extremely small part of an audio file? I've tried zooming in, changing the main counter to "min:sec", "bars:beats" and then "samples"...but still, it doesn't give me that much leeway with cropping.
