I'm trying to start a project/club at the high school where I work and am looking for your advice on an all in one solution for our recording and mastering needs. Basically a stereo (bypassable) mic preamp and compressor/limiter for under $2000. My students are mostly into hip hop and rnb.

Hey guys I am awaiting arrival of my new Digi 002 rack (I am using an MBox currently). I am wondering which mic preamp's would be better the Digi ones in the 002 or the pre's on my Mackie 12fx. Also is there any good posts and articles about the 002 i can be directed to. Thanks a bunch Jim

I thought after reading many posts here I'd throw this out and hope to get some advice from the pro's around here regarding my personal situation.

I've been slowly building gear up in a personal studio and need a better mic preamp.

Current kit includes:

which one is better mic preamp in sound quality

1. summit 2ba-221 or TL Audio 5001 (I have a better deal on both) or
2. Focusrite ISA 220 or Avalon M5 (slightly over budget)

using tritons etc, should i go through 2 mic preamp or direct box's, What is more common?

I am sure we would all agree that the ideal signal path would be direct from Mic Pre to line in of the soundcard when recording to a DAW.

However I still need to monitor the Mic Pre source, so what I do like many others I suppose, is to go direct to my line in on my small mixer and take a direct line out of that to the soundcard.

for more of a linkin park vocal sound, which mic preamp should i get?

Is there an acceptable dual mic preamp I can get for under $200? I need it to have a meter. thanks.
