I'm looking for info on mixing for film

I'm working with a tight group of film makers, all local, but a very dedicated bunch. I have been searching everywhere for info on mixing dialogue, foley, and music and happened upon the -20DBFS pink noise to 85 RMS mix standard. For anyone familiar with this, I think I get it, yet I wonder if I really do.

New Song - Mix Feedback (Rust On a Statue)

I've been mixing this song for quite a while now and I'm not a professional mixing engineer (which you probably can tell from the sound of the mix) But I would really really be greatful if I could get some feedback on how I can make the mix sound better, anything would be very appreciated

Here's a download link to the mix, the song is called "Rust On a Statue"

Wav: Cubase

Why the attention to details?

This isn't rhetorical question. I really am sincere in wanting to hear opinons from my colleagues as to why so many of us suffer over the "fine" details of a mix.

Understanding that there are huge differences between both song and mix styles; and we all know that recording and mixing a three piece blues act is a lot different from doing the same with modern pop.
