I understand that it relies heavily on what you are working on at the time, be it on the track level, sub group level or master bus level...

But, do you find yourself generally using more of one than the other in terms of "average" daily mixing?

I borrowed this from the DUC. I hope it makes more sense than I do at explaining things. YMMV as does each DAW. This is a bit of an odd one.
I had my system working fine for several years, then my PC motherboard died.
I bought a replacement PC and re-installed everything.
But I now have an odd problem.

For SOME (but not all) VSTs, every so often (and this varies from 1 second to 10 minutes) the volume on the instrument drops to zero.

I have a Toshiba Satellite M45 with XP. Has been running Studio One Producer for over a year or so. It's been a trooper. Reliable tracking machine for the 'Big Room'. Interfaces with a Firestudio 2626 and two Digimax FS'.
