Some two years ago I searched for an affordable 24 faders controller for my studio rig. I simply found none. There was solutions that were OK, but nothing for the "middle-class" professional. So I decided to create my own using a Mackie D8B.

I have inherited a recording studio project within a youth centre. Currently nothing has been put together but items (still boxed) where brought a couple of years ago. Two items are O1V and HD24. I recognise that a card is needed to connect the two things together using the optical. The MY16-AT card has been suggested.

Looking for some advice,

Need to record from 24 XLR inputs onto seperate tracks.
Needs to be moveable (to be used at concert gigs).

I'm on the search for a 24 channel mixer to use mobile with an Alesis HD24.

I'm looking at the Onyx, but right now it's a little out of my price range. Any ideas?

I am looking for that kind of thing to use primarily for mix down. The smaller the better (size-wise).

Does anyone have any knowledge of another product for my system that can provide 24 channels of ADAT i/o other than the RME Hammerfall products? I also would like to have Word Clock connections.

There is nothing wrong with the RME, and will probably be picking one up in the next week or two, just checking in case I have missed something else that I should be looking at.

My studio is finally in a position, with a small budget to start looking for a really nice (pres must be sweet!) 24 channel mixer, probably used.

The price range is 7-9,000.

I know there is E-bay, but some other references would be nice.

I have a line on a used Tascam M3500 at a great price in excellent condition. The guys says the faders need to be cleaned, but that's it. My only qusetion is, should I buy it? Are there any limitations I should be concerned about besdides the lack of phase (polarity) switches? I am upgrading from an Alesis Studio32 16 channel so pretty much anything else is going to be better than it.
