Can anybody give me their opinion of the MOTU 242i digital recording system. I am currently looking at purchasing one via ebay and would like to get the low down from anybody who has actually used one.

I am now in the market for a 24 track hard disc recorder. Out of the 3 famous choices, Tascam,Mackie and Alesis, which one is the better of the lot?

I know the Tascam is considerably more expensive.

Also, which of the Mackies (I am not useing a computer), the SDR or MDR? What is the difference between the two?

I am looking for the best 24 HD recorder that is offered. The only ones I know are Mackie, Alesis and Tascam.

How are these units in comparison and are there better machines out there?

I've just bought a 24 2", and need some suggestions on tapes. Unfortunately I don't have the possibilities to test all different brands, and the only one I've worked with was 456 on a Otari MX80.
I work mostly on rock tunes.

Any suggestion. .bias? calibrated to?
