24bit 88.2khz or 24bit 96khz?
Hi guys,
Just upgraded my studio with a brand new Focurite liquid Saffire 56 and an Octopre MkII.
With every changes to my gear, I try to better myself. I band project is coming soon, they're gonna track in my studio and mix and master at another place. So, I need to export wave files at there best.

44.1 vs. 88.2 revisited, but with a twist
I am going to do a simple test recording of direct acoustic guitar, at 44.1 and 88.2Khz rates, to compare for my own knowledge. My question is, if there are differences to be heard, what exactly should I be listening for, if I want to hear the differences?

88.2khz + 108SNratio *or* 44.1khz + 116SNratio
i currently mix all of my music ITB @ 44.1khz / 24bit in digital performer. (please no flame wars aboout ITB).
i'm interested in bouncing my tracks down at 88.2 so when i take them into Peak for final "mastering" i can use my plugs (UAD, Sony oxford, URS) at a higher sampling rate.. and then save back down to 44.1, 16bit (pow-r 3 dithering) for CD.
Mastering: SRC - 96/44 or 88.2/44 - and other quandries?
Somebody stated this somewhere:
Many products are mastered with analog out, through analog
processors, and re-converted at a lower sample rate, JUST to avoid doing SRC.
To do SRC WELL, and sound as good as good D/A-A/D conversion takes a bunch of
work to do it right.
