The traditional paradigm of transmitting audio and video media content over point to point dedicated cabling is being supplanted by methods of moving media content over networks, in particular Ethernet, LANs and IP based WANs.

AES is Comin up soon. Anyone going?
I don't know what the general opinion of AES is around here but AES is in San Fran. in one month.
Don't suppose anyone's headed there? Might be a cool idea for anyone that does plan to be there to sync their itineraries. I'm not going this year but it would be cool, if some of the forum members could meet no?
Just a thought.

AES standard for labelling tracks
I've been searching for the standard, as I've been told there is such, but can't seem to find anything.
What I mean is how to label the tracks. I remember hi hats were HH, top snare was something like Top Sn., etc. I've been told there's a standard so when giving sessions to other engineers it makes their lives easier.
Thanks for any help!

Who is going to the AES in NYC?
I'll be attending the AES for my 35th year. Who else is going? I think we should have a Recording.org gathering at the AES? It would be great if some of us could get together and perhaps have drinks and/or a meal with some fun conversation? After the show closes, I frequently hang at the Duplex in the West Village.

AES booster? Is there such a thing?
Hi,
We've recently discovered that when trying to send 88.2kHz or 96kHz AES signals over long cable runs, digital distortion appears.
We've tried all the latest "super-spec." digital cables and none of them will do it.
