I've done a review - but not a normal comparison, but how different mics work better in different positions for different tones and playing styles.

OK, I've posted the samples of the mics you were asking us about.

Here's some info:

Kick Drum:
Tama 22"
Beater Head: Evans (forget model)
Reso Head: Factory (with non-factory hole)
DW single pedal w/ felt (needs some TLC - it's rather noisy), no falam-slam on head.

What would you recommend using on the kick drum. I mostly going to record hard rock, metal styles. Recently i've been using pg52 and for metal i would always mic the beter with sm57. I think out of theese 3 options i need something with more bottom than click. Thank you.

I have a nice AKG D112 for sale. Only the mic, no packaging or case.

Which should I buy? I can save about 40 bones with the Shure...so I am leaning toward that if I'm not going to get a noticeable difference.

so tell me what you guys think one vs. the other I'm about to buy and I've had great experience with the D112 but I'd hate to miss out on a great mic just because the one might be more popular. Reviews seem to be pretty even. Thanks

Is there a large recording performance difference between the D112 and the Beta 52? I've heard lots of people recommending the D112.

I've just received a Shure beta52 (as a present :)
I already have the AKG d112.

I'm looking for pointers as to when (and why) to use one above the other

To me it seems the 52 is only for bass (kick & guitar)
The D112 seems also useable on tuba, trombone

Hope someone can give me some insight on this
