I purhcased a ART Pro Channel a couple of years ago off ebay. Worked for a little bit, but now it stopped working. I'm trying to figure out if it's a tube. The unit powers on, I hear slight audio distortion on the output. Is there something you can do to test the tubes or is it something else?

I'm contemplating my next buy. It will be a preamp. I'm looking for "that tube sound". I need richness and clarity, etc. This preamp is primarily for vocals. If it does vocals well, then I'm happy. I can always try it out on other things.

Hey guys, I'm relatively new to the forum. I want to get better at recording, so I'm focusing on adding gear to round out my studio. Here's what I'm working with right now-

I have had this ART Pro Channel in my studio for years now and I would like to breath some new life into it. I ordered and installed Ei 12AX7 Elites and TungSol 12AX7 [ NEW PRODUCTION] tubes only to find that both had issues. The Ei's had +17 dB noisefloor over baseline factory tube. The TungSol tube has a bad harmonic distortion at about 300hz.

I currently use "E-MU 1820M" as my preamp, and I am thinking
about getting the "ART Pro Channel" preamp and compressor.

Is there a real differance between the two preamps?
Is it a real "upgrade" or will I recieve the same results?

the art prochannel is a tube preamp/compressor/eq all in one for arround 300 bucks but does anyone have one of thease or know anything about one? any feedback would be helpfull

I've read that most here think the ART Pro Channel as a preamp in nothing great. Is it worth the money to get it as a compressor? Haven't seen much said about the rest of the unit other than it's preamp.

my budget is $350 and I need a decent tube pre for recording electric guitar direct.

I want to buy a decent tube preamp to warm up my sound.

I'm looking at the ART Pro Channel and the Groove Tubes The Brick.
(my budget is around $350.00)

I'm going to be using this primarely for recording electric guitar direct but also for vocals. I'll be running my pedals through the tube pre into an ADA Microcab then into my emu 1212m.
